Rating Beliefs and Emotions

Knowing how much you're suffering helps you see how much is also going right.

If a client can’t rate his level of pain there is no alternative than to suffer terribly. This technique helps your client develops a sense of proportion. When every thought and feeling isn’t 100% painful there is room to appreciate what is going well. It enables perspective taking which is key to emotional regulation.
