One problem we’re confronted with in the first principle of faith is the role of free will and belief. The Rambam believes we’re obligated, as a commandment, to believe in the existence of God. Yet, isn’t belief in God the starting position one has to have sorted out first before then going on to accept there are divine laws to begin with?
