How did the scientific revolution obstruct our ability to notice religious experience?

Not every rabbinic authority welcomed the 13 Principles when they were introduced. What many didn’t realize was their generation was at the beginning of a scientific revolution that would go on to not only challenge religious life but brought about a fundamental shift in how we look at the world threatening our ability to even notice the experience of religious belief.
