The fourth principle puts forward God is eternal and that time is a created thing just like the rest of the world. Here we see the first description within Judaism of what we must believe, not just about God, but the world we live in. It is a creation with a start point. Opening up the Rambam’s other work, The Guide for the Perplexed, his position becomes extremely difficult to understand. Does the Rambam agree with the straight forward traditional view of creation or is something more going on?
