In this episode we review the basic three step pattern clients fall into when they relate to painful feelings that lead to suffering and away from psychological health. Instead of willingly experiencing feelings and taking the wisdom from them, clients instead use different defense strategies to suppress these feelings. While this is a good short term plan it is a bad long term strategy because these defenses keep clients from seeing the whole picture of their lives leaving them even more vulnerable to the same pain they are avoiding.
